The Sage Mint deodorant by Dr. Hauschka is one of my favourites as it is very gentle while providing long lasting freshness.
The scent in the deodorant comes from organic ingredients, natural essential oils, no irritants or synthetic fragrances, dyes, preservatives, silicone, PEG or mineral oils which are considered irritants and can cause dryness!
The deodorant contains sage and witch hazel essences, which are both antimicrobial and astringent.
All raw materials are routinely checked for pesticide and heavy metal residue to ensure the highest quality of all ingredients used.
I thought I’d also touch on the use of alcohol in this product as I am aware that it is a controversial ingredient to have within clean beauty formulations.
The alcohol used in all Dr. Hauschka products is plant based alcohol, and is not petroleum-derived isopropyl alcohol. This alcohol is obtained by fermenting organically grown wheat, denatured plant-based ethanol.
The alcohol in Dr.Hauschka products is used to extract and preserve the essential qualities of the medicinal plants in the formulations, rather than relying on synthetic preservatives.
The amounts of alcohol used in the Dr.Hauschka products are regulated/ less than 12%/ to prevent the skin from dryness and irritation which normally happens when other types of alcohol, in much higher percentages are used in skincare and makeup products/ anything over 18%/.
Alcohol also helps with the penetration of products into the skin. The fermented organically grown wheat based alcohol not only enhances the dissolving power of the water used within the product formulas but also helps to tone
and firm the skin.
